The former French National Socialist leader, who was convicted of treason for leading a series of anti-Semitic terror attacks, was found hanged from a balcony in Paris, three years after an international manhunt.

His daughter, Antoinette Miah, said he was executed, after his lawyer requested that his body be sent to Poland.

“You can imagine the grief of my family and myself – especially in view of what happened in the past,” she said.

“But as the last moments pass, my feelings for my father and all those killed by the terrorists go with me.

“After the terrible events of November 13, 2015, I knew what we would have to face if this nightmare was to continue.”

‘Extremely sad’

France has the largest Jewish community outside Israel to avoid any reprisals, according to the Jewish Agency.

French President Francois Hollande said on Thursday the Miahs would not be put on trial by the new government, which took office a month ago.

In a statement, France’s embassy in Kiev said it was “very sorrowful” about Mr Miah’s execution.

“It is especially sad that the son of the former French president and the leader of the Jewish community in Ukraine was killed in this way,” it said.

Mr Hollande, who had been due to meet Mr Miah’s daughter on Friday, is not a supporter of Mr Miah’s controversial views, which have been criticised by rights groups.
